The New LCJ Logo: Its Symbolism
The organizational name in bold letters symbolizes the strong identity of the LAOAG CITY JAIL (LCJ) and its mother organization, the BUREAU OF JAIL MANAGEMENT AND PENOLOGY (BJMP) while the Gray Background depicts the organization’s color; the Crossed Keys represent the primary function of the organization which is safekeeping of inmates; Round Borders stand for holism: the Edifice represents the façade of the jail main building; 1997 signifies the year when LCJ came into operation as a BJMP-manned jail; the Rising Sun with Five Rays above the edifice symbolizes hope and a radiant future for the inmates who are undergoing developmental processes through the harmonious coordination of the Five Pillars of the Criminal Justice System; the Justice Scale stands for the rule of Law; the Blue and Red Background stand for the primary colors of the Philippine Flag; the Yellow Background represents happiness, new life and spirituality inside the jail; and the Tobacco Monopoly Monument, Laoag City Hall and Sinking Bell Tower represent the City of Laoag and its People.
