16th National Correctional Consciousness Week

     Laoag City Jail enjoins the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in celebrating the 16th Anniversary of the National Correctional Consciousness Week. This year's theme is "Towards Justice that Moves Beyond Punishment."

Most Rev. Sergio Utleg celebrated the Holy Mass formally opening the celebration. The celebration coincides with Prison Awareness Sunday being spearheaded by the Church every last Sunday of October.

The Seventh Day Adventist Church also participated in the celebration by conducting religious activities, singing presentation and sponsoring gift-giving and feeding program





Medical and Dental Mission  and Feeding Program sponsored by the Laoag City Health Office and the Philippine Dental Association-Ilocos Norte Chapter








The City Mayor, Honorable Michael V. Fariñas was the Guest of Honor and Seaker during the celebration.










One of the highlights of the week-long celebration was a pageant entitled Ms BJMP Laoag Bebot 2010. 11 inmates were brave enough to participate the pageant and willingly dressed up as ladies. They competed in different categories such as Talent, Casual Wear, Swimsuit, Long Gown and Question and Answer. Several personalities including the Provincial Administrator were invited as members of the board of judges. Lots of prizes were given out such as cash, electric fans, flat irons and other grocery items. The event was also covered by GMA 7 Dagupan Area and was featured in 24 Oras.
